Daily Duties at Department Of Labor:

• Utilized a complex statistical model to determine unobserved demand for health care, authoring a paper for the department and submitting it to the Journal of Health Economics. • Analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau company and industry surveys by constructing variables, manipulating data, and building models, assisting in the production of an annual pension publication. • Conducted a study on under-funded pensions, finding specific determinants of that condition. • Evaluated minimum asset level for SEC registration of asset managers, concluding that the new proposed asset level should be set at $80,000,000. • Estimated the probability of minority’s access to health care, finding a lower probability of access with statistically significant results in support of President Clinton’s Executive Order 13125 regarding increasing participation of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in Federal Programs. • Produced analytic and descriptive statistics with respect to health care and pension coverage, resulting in a more efficient, informed, and accurate Data Team.

What they like about Department Of Labor:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
