Daily Duties at Cooley Forest Products:
Hired as purchasing manager for raw material for distribution and manufacturing facility. Essential functions include: procurement of product to historic sales and forecasts by production manager in the manufacturing facility. Source all products from the manufacturer or through second sources. Manage inventory levels to ensure that there is no out of stock or stock shortages. Negotiate and drive special buys of product that is in short supply or constrained with various lumber mills throughout the U.S. and Canada. Reply to sales personnel request for quotes and special purchases. Communicating effectively with sales staff and manufacturers about specials and product specifications. Negotiate terms and conditions of all purchase orders on an order-by-order basis. Negotiate transportation costs. Resolve accounts payable and distribution discrepancies. Develop a detailed list of a variety of suppliers to supply the products that are needed in both divisions of the company.
