Daily Duties at U. S. Department Of Agriculture:
I worked in the Poultry Microbiological Safety Unit at the USDA in Athens, GA, as a biological science laboratory technician for two years as a temporary worker. The work I performed at the USDA involved PCRs, gel electrophoresis, and automated liquid handling system (Qiagen Biorobot) in the laboratory to study the Campylobacter flaA gene. My duties have included keeping records of daily experiments in laboratory notebooks, entering data into Excel spreadsheets, keeping logbooks of the biorobot usage and troubleshooting, preparing agar plates and reagents, maintaining laboratory cleanliness, and autoclaving laboratory waste.
