Daily Duties at Smith Barney, Inc. (Formerly Shearson):

VM/APL: Oversee large APL-based systems: work with high-level management and end users to specify their needs, translate specs into an efficient data and code design, and supervise the implementation of the application. Technical Supervision: Provide technical supervision for up to ten people on a day-to-day basis, supervising their programming and implementing standards. Utilities: Develop and maintain all APL programmer utility functions and REXX EXECs. Training: Train internal APL programmers, including teaching APL classes for new hires. Recruiting: Participate in recruiting by interviewing candidates and administering an APL test.
