Daily Duties at Backcountry.Com:

Oversee the application development and all IT infrastructure improvements during a period of hyper growth. Backcountry has grown from $27M in 2005 to $135M projected for 2007. During this period, I have taken an engineering team of 5 developers to what is now 30 members in several teams: front-end web development, ERP development, B2B communications, DBA and data warehousing, systems and network engineering, and desktop support for a company with 400 employees. Responsibilities include overseeing all application development and IT infrastructure for several multi-million retail websites, including supply-chain management systems, inventory control, purchasing prediction, online marketing tools, secure ecommerce, and customer management. Report directly to the President.

What they like about Backcountry.Com:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
