Daily Duties at Nationwide Logistics:

• Manage and coordinate daily load activity by working with production planner, shipper, carrier and receivers ensuring that loads are picked up and delivered on time. Responsible for all rail and OTR transportation movements. Manage the primary activities of the deployment and delivery cycle. • Maintain optimum number of outbound cars on drop lot to accommodate shipper. • Communicate daily, via written KPI metrics plan, the needs for the next day’s shipment schedule. • Negotiates rates with carriers, IMC’s while maintaining carrier compliance requirements. • Secure new carriers and rates resulting in a savings to the customer. • Weekly capacity planning meetings, active participation with planning and initiatives to help production and deployment to various national locations. • Lead project to decouple specific order numbers to carriers, resulting in a decreased amount of carrier detention being paid. • Initiated KPI reporting cross functional tool to allow better communication between deployment, management, production and transportation. This tool is now adopted as an SOP by the customer. • Accurately enter and maintain up-to-date information on a continuous basis in Lean Logistics, freight management system. • Locate carrier for loads. Track loads daily with carrier during transport from pick up to delivery. Schedule and verify loading and unloading appointments with shippers and receivers. • Continually develop and maintain relationships with carrier base. Negotiates rates with carrier and IMC. Develop delivery programs and update carrier commitment levels, especially during seasonal and customer peaks. Analyze new opportunities to enhance the logistics network. • Work in conjunction with the procurement manager, to contain rate and accessorial charges and to help identify carrier service requirements and trends. • Work closely with customer service to adjust deliveries when requested by customers. Resolve problems that may develop and communicate any changes in product, routing and delivery with Customer Service. • Responsible for periodic carrier invoice approval and auditing.
