Daily Duties at Aetna:

My main responsibilities are reports, inbound and outbound calls. There are several different reports that are department has, all of which I am proficient and through. I also take inbound calls from people that are calling back from automated phone service or from a call having been made to them which they are returning. Each call can be a different circumstance which some will require a little more attention. Some call maybe generated by the automated system and the customer calls in wondering why we are calling them. The solution is to look and see that the order is in either a different department or it is complete in which case the automated system did not update and it was just a duplicate call. Other times it might be a representative from our central office calling with a question on how to handle a order or they might have an irate pt on the phone and the pt is wanting to talk to a supervisor. And the only thing that was happening was the rep. was giving them false information. Although I am not a supervisor in our department, I am asked questions about how or what an associate should do in a given circumstance and am able to give the correct procedure to follow. I am also able to make a payment on the billing screen, so when a pt calls in and wants to make a payment because we called them but there order is already complete, I can just go in and make a payment for them in the same or less time it would take to make a case and then I can go on to the next call. I am also a little knowledgeable in eligibility, in that I can release a P2 issue without having to go into eligibility release to accomplish it. I can also profile our customers. So if a pt were to call in upset that there order is getting held because we show then having a new member # but that the account is not active, I can go in and profile them. That way the pt will know that there order is getting worked on immediately and then they are calmed down because there medication is moving along. I am knowledgeable in all our systems that we use and can navigate through them quickly so that I am able to accomplish my tasks quicker because I do not have to spend time finding where I need to go. I can also use different search engines in mainframe. I also know where to print off all of our reports that our department would need for any given instant. Data entry is also part of my responsibility for work. I enter order that we received either from our patients mailing in their prescriptions or from the doctor calling or faxing in the prescriptions. The patient's name, medication, refills, quantity, and the day supply are keyed and has to be done with great detail. The pharmacist reviews the order to make sure everything is correct.

What they like about Aetna:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
