Daily Duties at United States Northern Command:

• Provide assistance in recognition of all threats with special emphasis on strategic and asymmetric vulnerabilities to North America. • Motivated, self-initiating, multi-tasking expert--works complex tasks and projects without supervision. Provide military assistance to U.S. civil authorities, including consequence management operations in response to military support to civil authorities, military assistance for civil disturbances, and other civil support, authorized by the President or the Secretary of Defense. • Ability to adapt quickly to new and different emergency system requirements and quickly become the expert. • Support an integrated interagency effort from the national to local level to ensure mission success. • Maintains day-to-day operations of a 150-person continental command operations center, ensuring rapid, high-quality flow of multi-dimensional information to the commander, and efficient, accurate relay of commander's direction and guidance. • Directly responsible for critical communication flow within the command center. • Conduct emergency notification teleconferencing relaying of time critical information to subordinate units. • Work closely with Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Homeland Security, National Military Command Center, Joint Task Force Commands, and Canadian Commands; plus many others. • Ensures organizational leadership is aware of the location and status of key headquarters personnel and regional heads of state. • Sole individual responsible for initiating and tracking emergency action directives in accordance with changes in US national domestic and military readiness conditions. • Maintains intimate knowledge of detailed operation of 3 independent digital data management networks, including advanced techniques with Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Excel, and Word products. Ensures critical communications flow over 3 chat systems and is responsible for data access over 2 portal sharing domains. Highly proficient in the operation of 2 independent voice communications systems (Integrated Service Telephones and STEs). Single crewman responsible for the design and maintenance of data storage in the Enhanced Command Console, critical to the commander for rapid and efficient conferencing and data retrieval. • Technical support for equipment related issues. • Establishes and monitors secure voice and video teleconferencing networks critical to the commander. Works closely with multiple Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice participants, in addition to National Guard Bureau, State Emergency Operations Centers, and equivalent Canadian organizations.
