Daily Duties at Duke Energy:
Administrator for a 7x24, High Availability, Veritas Clustered, Environment. This environment consisted of eight, Sun E6800 domain servers configured as three 4-node clusters with Brocade switched SAN, and EMC 8830 Storage Frame. Support servers included Sun E450, E420, E280 and Sun blade workstations used for NFS, NIS, and Veritas Netbackup Servers. Some AIX support Specific duties included all task associated with installation, upgrades, configuration and troubleshooting of Solaris 8 and Solaris 7 Operating Systems, Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System, Veritas Database Additions for Oracle and Sybase, PowerPath, Volume Logix, Emulux, ECC and ESN Software. Worked with Vendors in support of troubleshooting, configuring and upgrading software. Additional responsibilities included Storage Manager for EMC 8830 Storage resources and Backup Manager in charge of an L700, fibre attached, Veritas Netbackup System (v. 4.5). Experience with SAN Management and zoning. Responsible for all Full and Incremental backups for all system files, user data, Oracle and Sybase Databases. Specific duties included working with the customer to determine requirements, plan the allocation of resources and configuration of the resources in order to meet customer requirements. Additional duties included training of lower level support staff in daily activities such as tape change out and offsite archiving.
