Daily Duties at U.S. Marine Corps – 4 Th Civil Affairs Group:
Washington, District of Columbia; 2004 - Designed and facilitated training to over 2,500 Marines awaiting deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom II on political, religious, and cultural differences, concerns, and situations in Iraq. - Interviewed 240 Marines regarding the Civil Affairs Group’s experiences during Operation Iraqi Freedom as part of a special project for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. • Afghanistan, Spring Offensive Combat Operations, Operation Mountain Storm, 2004 - Selected to solely represent the command as the Civil Affairs Liaison Officer between the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and the U.S. Army Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in a combat setting. - Set-up and maintained the PRT’s Operations Center, designing and managing a database for over $1 million in Humanitarian aid and providing training to 110 incoming soldiers. - Interviewed village elders and municipal leaders to assess their needs within selected regions of Afghanistan. - Designed and facilitated an informational presentation to 1500 local school students about the coalition forces and how to interact with them and the post-war environment. • Iraq and Kuwait, Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003 - Interviewed Iraqi civilians for key positions within the interim government in the Wassit province of Iraq. - Assigned to a two-member “Education Team” in the Wassit province, reopening 652 schools and distributing emergency compensation payments to all 14,400 school employees. - Represented the U.S. Government in discussion groups with school employees regarding fair staffing practices, security, repairs, and wage issues. - Campaigned and persuaded students and teachers to return to the schools by appointing a new Educational Director, removing the regime’s curriculum and supporters from the staff and coordinating the disposal of unexploded ordnance to create safe facilities.
