Daily Duties at Jackson Hospital:

As a clinical applications analyst I was in charge of maintaining clinical staff databases, as well as the creation and maintenance of the online courseware for staff that was to be used as continuing education units for their licensing process. Courses were developed with Windows Server 2000, IIS, SQL 2000 and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Web Applications were developed using ASP and VB Scripting, reporting was done converting HL7 flat files, SQL, Access, Crystal Reports, and Adobe Acrobat. During this time our clinical IT lead in the lab transfer out, and I was temporarily placed into that position, where I used Quovadx Cloverleaf, HL7, and Misys to get a variety of laboratory instruments to communicate with our Hospital Information System (HIS). This position had the responsibility for the analysis, design, development, documentation, implementation and maintenance of business processes related to healthcare clinical information systems. Other activities included the identification of system and process issues that required definition and resolution within the clinical informatics realm. I was also tasked to create a internal productivity report for the CIO, that tracked employee metrics. This position also served as a liaison between clinical departments and information systems; ensuring that applications were current, accurate, responsive confidential and meet JCAHO, and regulatory standards for providing care.

What they like about Jackson Hospital:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
