Director, Corporate Business Analysis Directed Business Analysis group of 26 focused on maximizing profitability and optimizing costs. A key contributor in MCI’s emergence from bankruptcy and return to profitability: - Championed, designed and implemented the company's first activity-based costing system for over $5B of operating expenses. Institutionalized the model across company, which won SAS's 2004 Enterprise Intelligence Award (http://www.sas.com/offices/africa/southafrica/success/mci.html). - Developed Product Line Profitability models and implemented Segment P&L Reporting methodology used in 10-Q and 10-K to remedy the company's FAS 131 reporting deficiency. - Led 3-year audit and reconstruction of WorldCom's liability accounts representing $13B/yr. Headed PMO for over 125 project members. Coordinated first draft of internal controls for SOX 404 compliance. Work had high visibility to C-level executives, DOJ, SEC and external auditors. - Worked with restructuring firms to evaluate company assets for divestiture or down-sizing. Directly influenced decision not to exit $2B Wholesale business despite executive inclination. - Significantly contributed to the Debtor-In-Possession financial plan used for creditor's committee. - Set directive policy and hurdle rates for field transactions; developed business cases for areas of strategic capital investment resulting in cash savings of $60M. Developed competitive analysis and financial benchmarking of operations.
