Daily Duties at Columbia University:
• Manage the monitoring of news relevant to Columbia University and its campaigns to provide correction or amplification where necessary as well as to ensure a comprehensive clipping service. • Develop, implement and sustain Columbia University media strategy with appropriate political awareness and sensitivity. Respond to media enquiries effectively and accurately ensuring that multi media exposure is in accordance with our policies and or directives. • Research and generate news coverage including writing and editing press releases, articles, briefings and statements for the media and key executives on high profile and confidential matters such as the Manhattanville expansion. • Cultivate and share best practice in areas including message development, media training, press review techniques, media guidelines, spokesperson training and image downloads. • Liaise with event managers, journalists and press officers to coordinate activities, fundraising and photo shoots in order to maximize media coverage. • Promote policies and positions of Columbia University and member groups to New York based media and national media in line with agreed procedures.
