Daily Duties at United Conveyor Supply Company:
Dear HR, I wanted to convey all the other areas I have done on my last job that maybe you were not aware of. 75% of our jobs are contracts others are parts orders. My job as superintendent was to go through all jobs, establish dates with all sub-contractors, then coordinate with programming, layout, supervisors, and purchasing for bringing in the steel and MTR that we need to make sure parts will make subcontract or contract due dates. There were also two step processes in some of these fabrications. On the big contracts where we made large dry flight and wet conveyors along with fully piped and wired filter separators, hoppers that were 60’x 20’x 16’ wide made out of all stainless steel plate with all carbon structural steel for supports, along with a slew of other parts that would take up to 10 flat beds and lo-boy permit trucks. My job was to access these contracts through our auto EDMS files pull up contract prints look for latest revisions, read the scope of work. I would do take –offs for all the rigid piping, sweat copper tubing, liquid tight flex tubing. Then I would open the electrical panel drawing to find out wire specifications and see if there were other specs. So I could order all hard piping and fittings, and correct wire for this contract. I would have this all ready for in house wiring or if we were too busy, hire sub- contractor to install. Looked at all contract specific paint specs. and calculated all paint from up to 3 different paints, meaning primer, intermediate, and top coat, which we had to document all mills for each paint coat per procedure and for outside inspectors who would come in and verify all fabrication and paint systems. I worked with engineering at corporate along with project managers for contract bids, time schedules, and the feasibilities of paint applications, then submitted price quotes for these contract specific paint jobs along with my recommendations. We had inspection procedures that we would fill out to make sure things were built according to correct revisions. If there was a problem, my supervisors and I would write up rejection tags and discuss with engineering whether we could get an engineering deviation or not, or when parts did not fit as drawn we would summit engineering request for changes, corrections or upgrades for a better product. I drew up and had built 40’and 20’ structural steel racks for removing steel off the floor. Researched new machinery for upgrade and did time studies on old and new by going to trade shows, auctions, and plants that had same machinery. I researched parts and new machines and just purchased them on the smaller capital investments. These are just some of the things I was daily involved in besides the daily building and machinery maintenance issues. I have 32 years of exposure in plants from bidding on structural steel, trusses, walls, roofs, sky lights, platforms, laddered cages, installation of whole production lines up to the finished products. I’ve seen more building and installations erected then most engineers will ever see and I know hands on how it is done. I’ve taken down walls or made openings in roofs to install machinery, cooling towers, cranes. Worked with 250 ton cranes to set or tear out machines, have worked with helicopters on roofs setting structural steel, platforms, HVAC package units, and tearing out old. I believe I can bring to your company a wealth of expertise from project management too plant maintenance projects for all the upgrades you need if you will offer me the opportunity.
