Daily Duties at Hanson Peters Nye:
Day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of approximately 20-25 insurance coverage matters arising under directors & officers liability, errors & omissions, employment practices liability, and financial institution professional liability policies. Conducted complex insurance coverage analyses and advised insurance companies in the United States, Bermuda and the United Kingdom. Monitored and managed own caseload, which included maintaining contact with clients, insureds and defense counsel; reviewing claims materials; evaluating coverage; setting reserves; and asserted defenses. Drafted opinion letters, reservation of rights letters, status reports and case evaluations. Participated in conference calls with clients and other insurers, and assisted in conducting file audit of EPL program. Researched and analyzed current and pending legislation and regulations pertaining to claims handling practices in order to advise clients. Contributed two articles to firm's "Friday Forum" newsletter. Acquired working knowledge of the structure of the London insurance market through representation of clients.
