Daily Duties at California Dental Association:
Manager with 14 direct reports. Reported directly to the CIO. Managed team of Project Coordinators, Programmer/Analysts, System Operators and a Technical Writer. Performed annual performance evaluations and set annual goals and objectives for advancement of staff. Worked close with Marketing to developed insurance software for brand loyalty and service. Worked closely with software and hardware vendors. This included the preparation and presentation of RFI’s and RFP’s. Developed project cost estimates along with risk assessments and validation plans. Prepared and maintained policy manuals to address compliance requirements set forth by the Department of Insurance. Managed the successful hardware/software conversion to an IBM AS/400 system that included a client/server relational database taking advantage of stored procedures and triggers to maximize efficiencies in operations. Collected and analyzed performance data for the reporting of host system I/O bottlenecks across a mixed hardware platform configuration. Directed the physical relocation of a data center to a new corporate office. Approved structural drawings of a new corporate data center and presented weekly status updates to CEO. Defined corporate directives for workstation hardware/software and operating acquisition. Developed and maintained internal procedures for security, administration, maintenance, and reporting of corporate data and voice communication systems. Established a companywide disaster recovery contingency plan used to carry out annual local and wide area disaster tests to a remote offsite facility.
