Daily Duties at Office Of Mental Health, Bronx Psychiatric Center, Bronx, Ny :
• Work in bot In-Patient and Out-Patient settings to care for patients with various types of behavioral problems who are mentally challenged such as anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, suicidal, bipolar/ mood disorders and cases of substance abuse, etc. as well as their medical problems (E.g., diabetes, hypertension). • Collect and put together daily reports from all the units as well as respond to all unit’s emergencies • Renders cost-effective positive outcome nursing service through the provision of individual assessment, implementation of care, and evaluation of outcome, • Use of critical thinking nursing skill approach to provide nursing service and educate patients and families. Provision of quality care such as medication administration, verbal and non-verbal support, and encouragement to enhance patient discharge as soon as possible. • Provide restorative services to residents in the community transition program which help them integrate progressively into the community at the maximum functioning level • Educate clients on medication management to place them on self-medication storage. • Ensure that residents are compliant with their appointments and appropriate program that will help with their recovery. • Continuous evaluation of residents participates in a team meeting and contributes actively in the decision making of the client's plan of care. • Helps in the Central Nursing Office assisting with scheduling and staffing, supervisory duties such as coordination of nursing services in assigned units, taking reports. • Night head nurse supervises and delegates the task to unlicensed healthcare staff. • Participate in an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, and evaluate the patient treatment plans and other health-related issues. • Review and screening of patient’s alternate levels of care needed to transition patients from one setting to higher settings of independent care. • Participate in accreditation and recertification preparation and process. . • Conduct group therapy, counseling, admission, discharge, and health education teaching and follow up care, • Medication administration with the use of Pyxis • Computer documentation of reports and notes.
