Daily Duties at United States Department Of Justice National Security Division:
• First chair representation of the federal government before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, including preparation and presentation of applications for electronic surveillance and physical search of agents of foreign powers engaged in terrorism and/or espionage activities against the United States • Litigated classification of the most sensitive intelligence community records, including numerous lawsuits on whether the President’s statements on Twitter constitute official acknowledgements and the implication of such status on the disclosure of classified intelligence community records • Advised intelligence agencies on various legal matters implicating national security • Supervised and conducted compliance reviews of intelligence community agencies • Oversaw hiring of over fifty attorneys as Head of the Hiring Committee and ensured those hires reflected the Department of Justice’s commitment to diversity; established an internal process for tracking potential hires, organizing applications, and setting up interviews; trained the Division’s Human Resources staff on that system • Active member of the Division’s Diversity Committee • Earned the Attorney General’s Award for Outstanding Service, the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Excellence and the Assistant Attorney General’s Commendation Award
