Daily Duties at Delphi Asia Shanghai Office :

Responsible for all Cost Improvement Initiatives at 9 Delphi sites in 5 Countries. We had a 10% saving target per year. We eclipsed that target so was given a revised targets of 12% and 15% per year. Every part with a purchased value over $50,000/year had to have a plan which I and the respective 40 Buyers (not direct reports but dotted line indirect report to me) managed and reported progress on bi-monthly. Finding Local Suppliers was one of the ways to reduce cost. Negotiations with existing Suppliers and design changes were equally effective. During this period, I also conducted several VA/VE - Value Analysis/Value Engineering workshops which focused on design changes to lead to cost improvement. Simultaneously, during that period, Delphi Asia's sales were growing at 25% to 35% per year so I supported the launching of new products when serious issues threatened to delay its timely launch.
