Daily Duties at Garelick Mfg Co:
• Direct and lead new product development in the creation of new and revised products for marine accessories that included such items as seat systems, boarding ladders, motor brackets, table hardware, and boathooks from concept to production. • Generation, review, and control of bills of materials, engineering changes, assembly/component prints, routings, work instructions, work flow, and overall process information for production. • Coordination and delegation of work load for manufacturing and new product development engineering, quality, safety, and maintenance staff across multiple facilities. • Project scheduling, risk assessment and implementation from concept through manufacturing. • Capital expenditure and budget review. • Product evaluation and testing for failure, life generation, safety concerns, and cosmetic look. • Implementation of quality protocols such as receiving inspection, corrective actions (internal and external ‐ CAR), rejected material identification, notification and removal, supplier audits, line shut down authorizations, and product audits. • Generation and oversight of FMEA’s, PFMEA’s, and Control Plans. • Lean Manufacturing initiatives and ideals (Work cells, 6S system, workflow generation, point of use storage, value stream/process mapping, etc.). • Produce cost reduction designs / alternative manufacturing methods. • Product outsourcing selection within the US, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Thailand (Includes: product selection, vendor development, product approval, inventory management, and product implementation). • Sales liaison to customers through new product start up, product changes, and trade show interactions. • People management; personnel reviews, goal assignments, department needs • Highlights of tenure at Garelick include, personal implementation of 50 new products every year, multiple patented products, 3D CAD (SolidWorks) implementation, ECN (engineering changes) system implementation, new product release (NPR) implementation, safety system implementation, bringing departments of multiple facilities under same department and structure (elimination of “silos”), step quoting process implementation, facility wide work cell implementation, point of use implementations, 6S implementation, quality record implementation (CAR’s, SCAR’s, Receiving Inspection Records, Supplier audits, etc.), introduction of machining into Garelick (Haas machining centers), and overall team growth.
