Daily Duties at Children's Hospital And Medical Center:

Served as the leader of the business intelligence/decision support system (the System) to ensure its development and usage is at maximum capacity to best facilitate the organization in meeting its strategic goals and position Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and Affiliates to thrive in a value-based future. Implemented and maintained the StrataJazz business intelligence/decision support and cost accounting system providing reports, analytics and dashboards to end users. Defined operational standards, organized department-level activities to achieve optimum service delivery/systems/care/processes, setting high performance objectives for the department. Held self and others accountable to meet stated objectives, outcomes, goals, timetables and commitments, adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances. Managed and directed a team of 3 senior business intelligence staff to deliver high quality solutions and identify potential opportunities to facilitate organizational improvement and success. Monitored and ensured the System was able to support strategic goals and risk-based payment models/ Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) which will allow costs to be analyzed across the entire continuum of care; hospital, physician practices, home health, etc. Provided education and support to executives and service line leaders in the development of costing standards including regular meetings with leadership. Collaborated with VP of Network Development and Chief Revenue Officer to provide financial analysis and recommendations to support rate setting and risk sharing parameters. Responsible for the oversight of defining and reporting on key patient populations or high dollar patients. Collaborated with service line leaders to create meaningful service line dashboards to help leaders manage growth, efficiency, readmissions, patient satisfaction, market penetration and quality/compliance in their specific area with drill down capabilities. Partnered with leadership to evaluate the need for separate databases throughout the hospital to track patient, quality, outcomes, etc. Partnered with executives to identify key hospital performance objectives to report on, monitor, track, cost and analyze trends to improve both the quality of care and reduce the cost of healthcare. Developed a means to identify the cost of harm when adverse outcomes occur and evaluate the differences in care delivery costs across providers. Presented findings of analyses of specific strategic and operational issues as requested. Served as liaison with other children’s hospitals, local hospitals and professional organizations to gather and exchange information and keep abreast of changes in health care. Maintained knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending seminars to develop business intelligence which can be used to support strategic operations ACHIEVEMENTS: • Successfully implemented and maintained the StrataJazz decision support and cost accounting business intelligence modules. • Managed and directed a team of 3 senior business intelligence analysts to deliver high quality solutions and identify potential opportunities to facilitate organizational improvement and success. • Collaborated with service line leaders and created meaningful service line dashboards to help leaders manage growth, efficiency, readmissions, patient satisfaction, market penetration and quality/compliance in their specific area with drill down capabilities • Created supply variance reports to find abnormal supply costing practices and partnered with executives to identify key hospital performance objectives to report on, monitor, track, cost and analyze trends to improve both the quality of care and reduce the cost of healthcare. • Developed a means to identify the cost of harm when adverse outcomes occur and evaluate the differences in care delivery costs across providers. • Designed a reimbursement template for third party payor payments to assure proper reimbursement. • Delivered a Home Health, StrataJazz, implementation presentation at a national Business Intelligence conference.
