Daily Duties at Verizon:
• Currently lead program/release management cycles for Managed Security Services (MSS) in order to support Verizon’s extensive portfolio of Security Solutions applications following procedures, values and ethics of integrity—leading distributed teams of up to 14 engineers, testers, and support staff located in India, Peru, Belgium, the US, and other global locations. Gather requirements for new features as well as enhancements /patches/hotfixes from stake holders and complete the cycle to deployment. • Accelerated the compliance posture of the security application by enforcing External Application Security scans and incorporating internal code inspection tools like Fortify Scans, Black Duck Scans, SonarQube and Nessus scans; generated weekly reports to ensure traceability of vulnerabilities reported and track them to closure, with a 90% improvement in cyber security being realized almost immediately • Reducing existing 10-12-week release cycles down to 3 weeks - Change Management to meet a key mandate issued from senior management; accomplished this by continuously adjusting priorities to meet the changing needs of release content, all while ensuring minimal defects despite significant resource shortages. This involved making key Change Management transition, balancing stakeholders, managing business changes, ensuring new program benefits are obtained including KPI. • Drive ongoing efforts to verify/revise best practices and acceptance Quality standards within the company, providing training focused on Data Validation, End to End testing and mentoring to staff around QA issues, Support UAT efforts. • Lead employee engagement and development efforts in order to recruit and maintain a top-tier technical staff, including SOW, hiring/interviewing candidates and serving as a player/coach able to step in as an individual contributor and resolve complex technical challenges and production issues, as needed • Direct IT integration and Information Compliance Certification teams in flow designing of the requirements, building, implementing, managing, and supporting user scenarios to address key technologies related to big data, network analysis, automation, performance, data warehousing and business intelligence; efforts involve extensive communication with product owners, stakeholders, operations, customer support, and other stakeholder groups. • Evangelize the use of agile and DevOps practices to support the SDLC process, CI/CD, DevOps, DevSecOps process leading to clearer expectations and a drastic reduction in the number of priority issues reported in production • Lead the Gartner, Forester and RSA Certification release cycles, a pivotal task requiring the creative management and motivation of 50-60 member teams, under heavy pressure, in order to meet aggressive target deadlines and ensure Verizon products met these high-profile industry standards. • Improved the daily release status and audit reports sent to all stakeholders and upper management using agile tools (Jira, confluence)—allowing all involved parties to remain apprised around current issues, risks, analysis and recommendations; reports included story to defect ratios, resolution times, and other key metrics on Jira Dashboard. • Led workforce planning, budgeting, scheduling, and HR functions for teams under management, contracts, coordinating responsibilities across different locations/time zones and conducting annual performance and pay reviews; additionally provided extensive coaching to team members, challenging them to raise the bar on performance, be proactive, innovate, and pursue further career development and training • Managed a global network and infrastructure of 4 Verizon QA/Development labs, ensuring systems were successfully up and running across different locations/time zones to support current and legacy application testing; efforts included daily monitoring, preventive maintenance, disaster recovery, patch/version upgrading, and network related activities to move to cloud infrastructure.
