Daily Duties at Swanson's Center For Youth/Ccs, Inc.:
I was the licensed therapist in the Mental Health Treatment Unit (MHTU) Program at an all male juvenile jail. My company, CCS, Inc., contracted to place behavioral health and medical professionals in the facility. I worked closely with MHTU captain to ensure best practices within an incarceration setting. I conducted individual therapy sessions and led group therapy sessions. I was responsible for scheduling various therapeutic sessions with other clinicians. I directed weekly treatment team meetings comprising of clinicians, State of Louisiana OJJ staff, and incarcerated youths and acted a daily liaison between the State of Louisiana organization (OJJ) and CCS. I was an active participant in CCS team meetings and consulted with OJJ management concerning best practices. I performed initial intakes, including initial Behavioral Health Evaluations. This included evaluation state of mind on new inmates, particularly whether they were suicidal and/or ready for incarceration. If they were determined to be unable to adjust to incarceration initially or were suicidal, they were placed in special conditions situation. I was responsible for monitoring their progress and administering treatment. I conducted many suicidal ideation assessments, and placed many inmates on on suicide watch, maintained watch, and discharged watch as needed. I was responsible for the inmates housed in MHTU and conducted individual and group sessions in the unit. I specialized in trauma-focused therapy and PTSD interventions. Sometimes, these sessions were conducted in a special conditions area with OJJ staff on guard. I worked closely with the psychiatrist, the psychologist, and the medical staff to ensure best practices. I acted as on-call Mental Health Professional and answered call in the middle of the night for many suicide watches and after hours transports.
What they like about Swanson's Center For Youth/Ccs, Inc.:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
