Daily Duties at Valmont Northwest:
We had $4,000,000 of inventory on hand. I checked inventory stock daily for 5-600 items. Weekly all 5000+ items at our location. I communicated daily with our three satellite locations about their inventory levels and needs. I worked closely with the Parts manager, identifying inventory discrepancies and monitoring inventory levels. I was responsible for purchasing all inventory for the main Pasco location plus the satellite stores. I generated on average 20-30 POs daily(some days many more). As parts were received, I reconciled the packing slips to the PO, and questioned and corrected any discrepancies. I worked with up to nine salesmen, receiving their project orders and ordering any non-inventory items required. I worked with sales billing, confirming what was to be billed was correct and matched what was ordered/shipped. I took direct calls from customers, identifying what they needed and either writing up orders to be pulled, or ordering what they needed. I worked with customers face to face over the front counter, helping them find what they needed, or by going through parts manuals, identifying obscure parts and finding replacements from local vendors. I entered hand written invoices into the system. To do so, I had to correct any mistakes, make sure correct part numbers were used, ensure correct customer account was billed, and confirm proper tax was applied(in irrigation, some customers were tax exempt, and that was only for some items). I was "in charge" of front counter(entrance) area. Kept it clean, orderly, and professional. Supervised the other employees posted around area(3). Made sure we all greeted and welcomed customers. Made sure we all were in unison with current events relating to business(sales, irrigation season, weather) Supervised the shipping/receiving crew. up to 5 guys at a time. Delegated orders to be pulled, gave out tasks such as stocking, counting, organizing, and packaging. Scheduled deliveries and ensured on time productivity.
What they like about Valmont Northwest:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
