Daily Duties at The Hartford:
Being part of Enterprise Risk Management, I reported to the CRO. My core functionalities included working with different groups within the organization producing Economic Capital models, allocating Capital, producing Economic Balance Sheet, performing monte-carlo simulation, performing statistical analysis, creating insurance dashboards, and identifying risk factors for insurance risk, market risk, credit risk and operational risk. • Involved in establishing Liquidity Risk policies and limits, setting Contingency Funding plan • Mitigate liquidity risk situations and design apposite methods for managing Asset Liability risk • Investigate implications of Dodd-Frank Act • Innovative hedging techniques and tools that are non-traditional to the insurance industry and that can provide competitive edge to the company in increasing its market share • Identify risk issues for alpha beta funds that the company wanted to invest in.
What they like about The Hartford:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
