Daily Duties at Singer Asia Limited:

Headed the consumer finance business of Singer Asia Limited, with a responsibility for the company’s US$200 million receivable portfolio and finance revenues stream of around US$59 million. Provided direction, guidance and training to the Credit Departments of Thailand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and ensured that target finance revenues and receivable KPI’s are met. Together with senior management, set policies, objectives and strategies of the company’s consumer finance business to ensure consistent growth and quality of receivables. Monitored regularly the quality of the receivable KPI’s and red flags and reported promptly to the CEO & the Board the potential problems affecting receivable quality and bad debts, emerging issues in the consumer finance business as well as relevant business opportunities. Oversaw the Group’s internal audit function, which included financial audits in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP, operations review, fraud detection and prevention, process improvement and re-engineering, IT audit and regulatory compliance with local laws. Established objectives, strategies and performance standards of the Corporate Audit Department as well as the Internal Audit Departments in all operating locations. Performed risk assessment analysis of the various auditable locations and developed tools to identify these risks early. Prepared the department budget and travel plans to ensure that major areas and locations are adequately covered. Worked with top management to strengthen risk management and internal controls, as well as to manage the risks. Prepared annual performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports. Supervised and conducted field work and moderated exist meetings with senior management. Communicated directly with the Group Audit Committee regarding audit plans and budgets, significant audit issues, recommendations and corrective actions taken by management.
