Daily Duties at Arrel Enterprises, Inc.:

Responsible for all aspects of custom test, data acquisition, and control system design and fabrication projects, primarily for industrial and government customers. Tasks performed include project management, system conceptualization, proposal and quotation writing, hardware design, software design, system testing, documentation, and supervision of project team during assembly and onsite installation. Small company environment provided the opportunity to gain considerable experience in other disciplines such as mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Most of the test systems involved some type of automated fixturing, generally powered by pneumatics and/or stepper motors. Personally designed many of the mechanical fixtures and worked closely with mechanical engineers on the more complex mechanical systems. Developed a good working knowledge of materials and machine shop fabrication techniques. Electrical/electronic design encompassed everything from mixed analog and digital printed circuit boards for embedded control, to integration of multistation test systems. Designed systems based upon various programmable logic controllers, IBM PC compatible computers, and some systems that contained both. Hands-on design and experience with systems and circuits from milli-Volts to 25 kV, and milli-Watts to 50 kW. Programmable logic controller (PLC) experience included numerous ladder logic programs developed for various brands of PLCs for a wide variety of applications. Computer programming experience principally in BASIC. Computer software management responsibilities throughout project cycles from the early stages of software planning and flowcharting, to the final stages during overall system testing and commissioning.
