Daily Duties at United Healthcare/Optum:
Engaged national marketing associations & brokers’ channel C-Level executives to sell UHC portfolio of Medicare products. Achieved assigned sales/membership growth targets.Traveled across the country to successfully & clearly communicate the mission, goals & culture of United Healthcare to several hundred independent agents & their up line of national & regional marketing associations. Created & implemented strategies for assigned region. Recruited, selected & trained agents on Medicare products. Ensuring all agents selling insurance plans are qualified & conduct their business according to all federal & state statutory & regulatory requirements, CMS guidelines & STARS programs Managed broker activities, leads & territories to ensure effective & efficient coordination across the regions. Produced national leading agents from original hire. • Achieved competitive trends & trained & certified in Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement & PDP products, CMS guidelines, & MIPPA regulations. Maintains an awareness of trends, developments & governmental regulations in Medicare & managed care organizations. Responsible for Medicare product design features, integration schedule & operational readiness in a new product start-up environment. Coordinates strategies & recommends policy positions with senior management regarding legislative issues & regulatory with a key support function in program & project management in support of Medicare Advantage & Medicare Part D, including Stars, Revenue Management, Quality & Network concerns. • Recruits, develops, & motivates staff. Initiates & communicates a variety of personnel actions, including, employment, termination, performance reviews, salary reviews, & disciplinary actions. Maintains an awareness of trends, developments & governmental regulations in Medicare & managed care organizations. Formulate & coordinate wide-reaching educational & marketing opportunities in the community for general educational programs; joint educational programs with hospitals, ALFs, SNFs & other affiliated institutions; physicians & their staff, faith-based communities, businesses, & social organizations of major strategic significance. Assist the Executive Director in developing annual plans for general community outreach & education to external audiences & constituencies including but not limited to: broad-based media initiatives, annual corporate events, community functions, community work projects; community boards; disease specific associations; & service functions & sponsorships. Continue to market internally the advantages & benefits of using Palliative & Hospice Care as part of the Optum Health, & other UHC sister segments for the continuum of care. Make quality face-to-face calls per day among identified key referral sources. Completes all job duties in a manner that meets the accepted standards of practice & the Palliative & Hospice Care Policies & Procedures, including trained in navigating Veterans Benefits.
