*Provided a specialist tax service to the organisation that included planning, preparing, consolidating, and submitting provisional tax returns, annual income tax returns, monthly VAT returns, annual R&D returns, and Secondary Tax on Companies (STC) returns. *Computed mining income taxes, calculated mining royalties, maximized available mining tax allowances, and validated the tax effectiveness of Mapochs Mine (Pty) Ltd and the Mapochs Mine Rehabilitation Trust. *Directed the preparation/retention of tax records/returns; oversaw compliance with tax-related legislation and relevant regulations across jurisdictions; and reviewed/analysed changes in tax legislation to identify opportunities to change the business structure and operations. *Maintained open channels of communication with senior management to help them remain current on all issues/risks within the corporate tax environment; cultivated and nurtured relationships with external advisors. *Worked with internal/external auditors in the completion of audits; consulted with tax advisors on audit findings; coordinated all SARS audits and served as a liaison with SARS; scheduled/facilitated investigations; and quickly/accurately responded to all SARS queries to minimize the impact of the audits on the business. *Verified that effective governance processes existed for managing company accounting and tax information management systems. *Point of contact with SARS on all company tax issues; resolved outstanding issues to avoid penalties. *Coordinated the financial year-end tax processes and produced financial reporting for current/deferred tax, aligned with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
