Daily Duties at Us Dept Of Energy:
As a weapons supervisor and engineer, I led interdisciplinary teams for nuclear and non-nuclear facility/process start-ups and all nuclear weapon production operations, including transportation and development of training standards for nuclear staff. Besides leading the weapons teams, I routinely acted as Assistant Manager for Weapon Operations (Production Operations, Nuclear Explosive Safety, and Weapons Quality Manager). Major achievements included: 1) Using objectives specified in the annual Presidential Decision Memorandum to consistently meet the national defense needs; 2) Advising senior PXSO and DOE managers on formulating nuclear weapon policies, programs and procedures for issues associated with the manufacturing, disassembly, and transportation of nuclear weapons 3) Periodically briefed senior DOD managers, Congressional staffs, other DOE experts and the DNFSB staff on technical issues associated with multiple weapons and packaging/transportation programs; 4) Influencing permanent improvements to weapons assembly/disassembly and maintenance activities; and 5) Led review teams for startup of multiple weapon programs (48/79 and AT400 container), assessing Integrated Safety Management, and assessing Federal oversight.
