Daily Duties at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (Eti):

As Group CTO/CIO, I was responsible for the Overall IT & Cyber Security Strategy and execution for Ecobank Group across EMEA, and also managed its Technology Subsidiary (eProcess International SA, a company set up to provide shared Operations & Technology services to Ecobank Group across EMEA). My duties and some of my responsibilities were as follows: o Managed the Group’s Technology Budget, including the P&L, supervised the EMEA IT Heads, as well as managed the Technology subsidiary’s 355 Technology personnel in delivering shared services to all EMEA subsidiaries. o Built strong skills (subject matter experts) in the various areas of the Banking Group’s mission critical applications/services (e.g., Flexcube, Card Management System, Postilion, Intellect, Kastle, Omniflow, Retail Internet Banking, and Omni application services). o Stabilized the technology platforms (I.e., the IBM Power8 systems and Storage hosting all business critical services, Oracle DBMS, Wintel environment); Flexcube Core Banking Service and other business critical services (mainly Cards, Intellect, Omniflow, Kastle, Rapid Transfer, Retail Internet Banking, etc) both at the Contact Center across EMEA, thereby achieving a High availability of 99.95% o Built 24x7 monitoring teams that provided round the clock support both to the Group’s internal and external customers by providing a robust and resilient data center infrastructure to deploy technology as strategic asset in supporting the business in meeting its strategic objectives. o Implemented Voice over IP across EMEA, significantly reducing inter-affiliate calling costs, Implemented Group ATM Infrastructure strategy, and a centralized Enterprise Architecture (EA), and also implemented a Group-wide MPLS network infrastructure to improve inter-affiliate connectivity across the Banking group of subsidiaries in EMEA. o Implemented & deployed Oracle CRM, Business Intelligence (BI) & Oracle HRM, SAP ARIBA, OMNIFLOW (Workflow management system), Retail & Corporate Internet Banking, Group Risk management (GRM) software platforms across EMEA. o Obtained PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry – Data Security Standard) Certification, and Built the 24x7 Security Operation Centre (SOC) that provided round the clock security threat monitoring, fraud detection services, including Firewall upgrade. o Concluded an engagement deal with IBM and deployed a Group wide Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution to secure and manage staff identities (Usernames, Passwords, etc.,), and conducted Penetration testing for all digital branches across EMEA. o Performed Disaster Recovery tests for all business critical services with seamless operational functionality working from the 3 EMEA Data Centre locations (London, Paris, and Acrra) to support the activities of the Group by providing business continuity, Backup and resiliency. o Deployed several key projects which impacted positively on the growth and image of Ecobank Group across EMEA with the integration of state of the art Enterprise Grade data protection products; Veritas Netbackup, Symantec, DDOS, Cisco ISE, Trusteer pinpoint detect, imperva database activity monitoring tool, entrust 2FA, and Forcepoint web secured gateway which currently protects the Group’s application systems from external attacks. o Moved the technology subsidiary through innovation, evaluation and integration of new technologies by collaborating with IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Hitachi, Orange Business Services (OBS), by building a Technology Innovation Centre (TIC) which expedited the subsidiary’s position as a Banking technology leader in EMEA. o Worked in a consultative fashion with other ETI department heads, such as Internal Audit & Control, H/R, Compliance & Legal, Accounting, Marketing, Finance and Operations, as an Adviser on Technology & Cyber Security, thus improving its efficiency and effectiveness. o Developed and chaired the Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC), as well as managed all technology Vendor relationships (comprising of IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Hitachi, and Orange Business Services, Internet gateway and MPLS service providers).
