Daily Duties at Us Army Corps Of Engineers:
Selected as Chief Contracting Officer for the District of Columbia (D.C.) Public Schools to renovate or produce new construction for school projects, providing children with an improved learning environment while providing contracting leadership and project management oversight for all school projects Contract Value: Approximately $800 million; Multiple Contract Vehicles; Contract Size: Approximately 130 government and 20 contractors; Warrant Authority: Unlimited • Created contracts that built 7 new schools, renovated 4 schools in the District of Columbia, and addressed 1700 fire code violations within 130 D.C. schools • Developed contracts with legal support from federal government and District of Columbia lawyers creating various changes to the regulations for the Control Board signature, until legislation was approved to allow the federal government to sign contracts • Developed small business conferences with the Small Business Administration & Corps of Engineers to drive small business participation on projects, resulting in 60% of contracts awarded to small businesses • Developed new acquisition strategies and mentored contracting personnel for District of Columbia that enabled District of Columbia to execute complex construction contracts in accordance with D.C. law • Served as the Acting Branch Manager for the $236 Million Military and Civil Works Construction Program , advising the senior staff on procurement strategy best practices in order to execute 20-30 large contracts
