Rapidly acquired an in-depth knowledge of a highly complicated and customized Endevor implementation with around 10,000 lines of undocumented exit code, mostly Assembler. REXX and CLIST. Became the de facto lead, assuming leadership responsibility for the team upon the retirement of senior personnel. Advanced automation efforts. Streamlined and simplified processes. Reduced errors in the production jobs by over 84% by searching out root causes of failures and correcting them. Maintained, documented, and enhanced Endevor exits written in Assembler and COBOL, related ISPF panels, files, and downstream programs and jobs. Prevented a disaster by observing a new feature in Endevor V12 which required modification before implementation. Wrote extensive documentation and provided training for the group Took the first phase of a floundering major project (estimated at several man years) to completion in 6 months. Upgraded Endevor software repeatedly, including exit code modifications and retrofitting ISPF panels. Served as technical lead on the upgrade from lower levels of COBOL to V5 of COBOL providing support to the POC team. Identified how the compilers could be run on a single LPAR in a plex with shared DASD and spool. Coded, tested, and implemented the solution, expected to save over $300,000 per year.
