Daily Duties at The Boeing Company:
As part of T-38 Avionics Upgrade Program we employed lean manufacturing. As a member of the Integrated Product Team member, we worked hand in hand with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and the Final Assembly teams so that we a united team in the building and delivery to the customer. Using Six Sigma and working collaboratively with our Vendors we were able to decrease production time from 8 weeks to 6 weeks while reducing our failure rate. While still participated in all the government required testing: ASWG, COIVT, TRR, SPE, and ATP, for Final Government Acceptance. On the P-8A program, we had to start a much lower point, since the aircraft was still in development. Many of the requirements were only a high level, and as needed broken down into lower level or sub-requirements (T2, T3, and etc.). With each requirement, included the developed test acceptance procedures for Integration, Validation and Verification (IV&V) of each developed requirement, including Risk Matrix, Risk Mitigation, Action Plans, and Peer Review of software code. In order to maintain Government Standards, the use of DOORs, Windchill, VersionOne, ClearQuest and ClearCase as Software Configuration Standards Traceability and Management tools were used as part of the Configuration Management (CM) Process. Agile Implement Team Member, Product Manager, lead to a more interactive approach between teams, which lead to an increase in program productivity.
What they like about The Boeing Company:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
