Daily Duties at Acro Service Corp/Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding:
Planned, scheduled, and routed: inbound and outbound & domestic and international shipments of freight (imports and exports), using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company shipping policies, state and international custom laws. Scheduled with carriers (air, land, and water) for pickup and deliveries. Reconciled freight bills, prepared and negotiated claims, and selected or recommended specific carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movement of goods and material were scheduled. Conducted research on transportation methods, rates, and routes. Developed programs that audited and monitored carrier rates and charges. Evaluated past performance and cost of transportation. Ensured compliance with government regulations concerning interstate and intrastate commerce, while offering the best solutions for both internal and external customers. Vetted all carriers and customers were US citizens. Identified and implemented processes and methods improvements that increase the efficiency and contribution of the Traffic Administrative role. Negotiated contracts with outside providers to minimize costs.
