Daily Duties at Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals:
• Embedded Business Process Engineer/Architect, Business Analyst/Project Manager, and Informatics & Robotics Support for Discovery DMPK (ADME) Department (internal to department/under scientist headcount). Promoted twice for high performance, initiative, and impact. Supported User Base grew from local department to site, to regional, then global. • Championed, designed and implemented end-to-end ordering, calculation & report generating Excel VBA & SQL solutions (primarily using/integrated with IDBS’s ActivityBase LIMS). This standardized turnaround times, increased data quality, reduced effort for the scientists and tripled the productivity of all local scientists and project managers for all (~29) routinely performed DMPK assays. When completed, I exported / implemented these on other (5 of 8) AZ sites. These systems maintained productivity during the 25% and 40% reductions in headcount in 2008 and 2010. • Held local, site-wide and global responsibilities, including Mass Spec capital budgeting, IS Steering Group Committee (member), Operating System upgrade / remediation & deployment coordinator for DMPK, and the global head of the ActivityBase Administrators group (for 6 years). Led and participated in many Lean Six Sigma workflow optimization projects to streamline cross-department, cross-site, regional & global interactions and processes.
What they like about Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
