Daily Duties at Bouygues Heavy Civil Florida:
I oversaw all construction activities on the project marine activities, surface works, bridge works and sub-surface works and their support works. I also managed a team of 5 site safety professionals and an administrator. In that this is a design build project, I worked with all of the different elements and their Division Heads to insure that Safety and Health was woven in to the very fabric of the organization. I was an active participant in all pre-planning meetings and even design meetings where my input was useful in eliminating hazards prior to the start of the works. Create and maintain all Health and Safety programs and procedures for the project. Interact with the owners and their representatives on all aspects of the project (i.e. works on the project to all events and other activities that occurred within or passed through the project limits, also to include their understanding of the CCIP program and the benefits that it brought to them and the project wholly. Work directly with the Contracts Manager and company attorneys to develop the contract language for all sub-contracts and service orders and agreements that are to be issued to those vendors and sub-contractors on the project. Organize the training for all employees on the project from executive management to the craft level. Evaluate those employees before and after training to assist the other project management in making decisions in the movement of employees into other positions of responsibility. Make assessments of those that control the work in the field for continued health and safety commitment and competency. Work together with the local authorities in the development of their training programs to be able to meet the needs of the project during construction and for them to be able to operate effectively during normal operations. I also worked hand in hand with these authorities to organize a federally funded multi-agency drill for all in the area for the development and understanding of rescue operations in these conditions. Work with and interact with all of the offsite organizations that can have a positive effect on the Project. Building this relation is very important to the wellbeing and the long term success of the project. I had an excellent relationship with OSHA and the other area and federal agencies that we deal with on the project. Work with the contractors/sub-contractors to bring them into compliance with the CCIP requirements and to manage any and all claim on the project (GL, AL, WC, and Marine) Also have responsibilities for interacting with Insurance Company, Broker in relation to all insurance issues.
What they like about Bouygues Heavy Civil Florida:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
