Daily Duties at Farmers Insurance:
E&Y was managing a massive ($500M+ project involving hundreds of resources and encompassing the full SDLC), engagement to replace all of the core insurance processing systems for Farmers Insurance. Three teams were analyzing system migration requirements for migrating Auto (U.S. and Texas), Home (U.S. and Texas), and transitional and permanent interfaces, to a new platform. During two year stint, multiple Analysis and Design project phases were completed. Additional resources were added during Construction Phase, and each team consisted of about eighteen (18) resources. The team gelled, productivity was high, esprit de corps was evident, and project was on track with both schedule and cost, before being lured away from E&Y by an exciting startup company, Seer Technologies, that seemed to have a bright future!
What they like about Farmers Insurance:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
