Daily Duties at Northrop Grumman:

I held two increasingly responsible positions over a 13 year period for Northrop Grumman, most recently as an Assistant Program Manager and Assistant Project Manager for this major U.S. Defense contractor. From 2007 to 2016, I was responsible for operations management. This included overseeing ongoing Department of Defense (DOD) projects with accountability for ensuring production deadlines were met on schedule and costs remained on budget. I also served as the liaison between project management, planning, operations, project team, and line management and was charged with streamlining workflow and enhancing productivity. Working on an Army UAS. Specific duties included: -Review and monitor the status of projects and maintain budget compliance. -Manage work schedules and advise senior management on status of ongoing projects. -Develop mechanisms for monitoring work in progress, troubleshooting, and necessary interventions with management and customers. -Provide sub-project planning, risk management, and sub-project performance while addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements. -Interface daily with DOD customers on contractual, scheduling, engineering and programming issues. -Assesses projects and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

What they like about Northrop Grumman:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
