Daily Duties at Hcl Technologies:

Chief Tasks Handled Senior Sybase Database Administrator for Client PepsiCo - Successfully did the Transformation of 130 Sybase Instances from one datacenter to another datacenter which consists of a complex heterogeneous replication from Sybase to Oracle. - Involved in the planning and execution of the transformation where we have to present a solution to any issues that we may face during the transformation. - Worked on Sybase replication servers using erssd databases to move data across different platforms i.e. Sybase to Oracle. - Worked with different teams to make sure that the Sybase databases are moved without any issues across datacentres. - Worked closely with the application teams to make sure that they are getting a good performance after the transformation and their applications are able to connect to the new Sybase instances without any issues. - Worked with several team to do connectivity tests, load testing and replication testing to ensure that we do not face any issues during or after the transformation. - Co-ordinated and worked along with the existing operational team of sybase to understand and fix any issues which they were facing on old environments and fixed them during the transformation. - Planned, tested and performed different DR tests to ensure that that there is a BCP plan in case of any disaster. - Built new servers for Sybase as per requirement and also working on Oracle databases build for Oracle 10g. - Co-ordinated with network team, storage team and backup teams to ensure that the data is rerouted to new servers and the backups are taken. HCL as Senior Sybase Database Administrator (13th April 2012 to 21st November 2014) Chief Tasks Handled Senior Sybase Database Administrator and Team Lead - Worked as a Sybase Database Administrator at Level 3 support in one of the prestigious Banks, Deutsche Bank (Global). - Supported 24*7 environments that include Sybase ASE servers and replication Servers for London, US and Singapore. - Lead a Team of Sybase DBA’s. - Daily task assigned by the client to work on the Requests, Include taking Backups, Restore, Upgrades of ASE Servers, Simple Login Creations, Creating and Dropping databases, Scheduling Jobs in crontab, Increasing the size of Databases and tempdb. - Day to day activities also includes providing Sybase support and troubleshooting of issues like Connectivity, Server related Jobs failures, Backup Failures, Login Issues, Tempdb Issues, log Issues. - Opening New case with Sybase related to Stack Trace errors. - Creating, Configuring New ASE servers as per client requirements. - Fine tuning/ Optimization of the database operation. - Upgrading the ASE servers to 15.7 and applying Patches to the servers. - Troubleshooting of replication servers. - Job also involves putting the permanent resolutions for daily occurrences of issues. - Monitoring of Sybase for any kind of blocking, log full and tempdb full issues. - Involves Communication with the application team to schedule the Production Work on weekends. - Monitoring the Production databases size on a daily basis to avoid database full issues.
