Technical Subject Matter Expert, and project management representative, in building a new Class of Fiber plant (Dow XLA) in Spain. Ran research evaluations with university experts while providing input at a contract vendor location in Asia. Wrote the design basis from the research then evaluated technology equipment providers for best types of equipment and fabrication capability. Followed construction to monitor correct installation, and participated in the plant commissioning and start-up. Project Manager and Process Engineer for a new Dow Agro Sciences product. Had responsibility for cost estimating, layout, detail design, commissioning and start-up of a large section of a $70MM fast track project. Managed multiple activities evaluating design calculations and equipment, for material handling, product formation, and environmental waste systems. Maintained flexibility by using standard equipment as much as possible due to research lagging the actual design and building steps. Project Manager for a new High Strength Fiber. Wrote the design basis and developed the P& I drawings then built a new market development facility on time and budget. Worked with a diverse team of research personnel to incorporate new technology into the design. Searched and contacted equipment vendors for process systems to provide new equipment adaptable to the new process.
