Daily Duties at Halifax Health:

Responsible for managing the coding department consisting of 15 Coding Specialist and 2 Charge Entry ED Specialist. Responsible for managing the coding of all patient types for the hospital and ED physician coding for 26 ED physicians and 13 PAs. Responsible for all coding and charge entry for five plastic surgeons. Work with the hospital Corporate Compliance Officer to ensure compliance is maintained in the HIM department as well as the clinical areas in the facility and physician offices. Assist the Patient Accounting department with any billing/coding issues. Assist, support, and advice the Director of the HIM department in all issues of the functions of the HIM department. Develop and manage Physician Services key financial performance indicators and provide leadership with action plans to correct variances.
