Daily Duties at Federal Civil Service:
I am the Project Lead Engineer for the System Network Availability Performance Service (SyNAPS) program. I am considered CSD’s Subject Matter Expert for Business Availability Center (BAC), Real User Monitor (RUM), Virtual User Generator (VUGen), and SiteScope. As the Project Lead Engineer, I led a team of seven (7) individuals in support of this program. I frequently travel to various customer conferences and customer locations to demonstrate how the SyNAPS program can provide for their monitoring requirements as well as meeting with the customer technical experts, explain, and demonstrate how SyNAPS can enhance their trouble shooting efforts. I attended several of the National Senior Leadership Decision Support Service (NSLDSS) TEMs to brief the assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. As the application program manager for SyNAPS, BAC/SyNAPS, RUM, and SiteScope I assist the various customer program managers in developing monitoring strategies to enable the customer program mangers in securing the best possible coverage utilizing the monitoring capabilities of BAC/SyNAPS, RUM, and SiteScope.
What they like about Federal Civil Service:
Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
