Daily Duties at Penske:

o Interview and hire salaried and hourly associates, as well as provide career development, mentoring and promotional opportunities to qualified direct reports. Conducts performance reviews for all salaried staff. o Guide supervisors and other team members toward achieving customer objectives. Administers and approves corrective action with minimal direction from RM. Direct and tactical interaction with support functions such as HR, Safety, Finance, etc. o Ensure associates’ understanding of individual and group responsibilities to achieve and maintain a safe work place. o Ensure compliance with all governmental company regulations and policies. Directs accident/injury investigations and provides remedies to senior managers and VP's. o Single-site responsibility and management of smaller domicile locations. Interact daily with local customer to ensure understanding of existing and emerging needs. o Utilize team to identify operational improvements in areas such as route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, trailer loading and inventory accuracy, and warehouse process changes. o Track and report value delivered to the customer. o Proactively identify profitable business opportunities. o Develop and execute annual financial and operating plans; identify and respond to issues utilizing operating metrics and the P&L. o Ensure location billing, expenses, and payroll are handled timely and accurately, as well as reflected correctly in the P&L. o Contribute to equipment specification during start-up and renewal. o Monitor warehouse, fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and accident frequency.
