Daily Duties at Ma Department Of Public Health:
My responsibilities at the Department center on research administration and data access. I chair the Institutional Review Board, a committee made of up other researchers and subject matter experts that reviews research proposals to ensure that they meet federal criteria for ethical conduct. I also lead the data access review committee (a sub-committee made up of IRB members), and we review requests from academic researchers for State Public Health surveillance data to ensure methodological rigor, fit with the mission of the Department, and that state and federal regulations surrounding the use of the data are followed.
