Daily Duties at Ibis Biosciences, Inc.:
.Developed mass spectrometry based methodologies for the analysis of nucleic acids to characterize microorganisms and to forensically differentiate humans. Analyze clinical (blood, nasal swabs, tissue etc.), non-clinical (nucleic acid extracts, PCR products, etc.) and forensic (buccal swabs, saliva, etc.) samples for multiple government customers and collaborators. Setup laboratory for high through sample screening and created isolated work flows for clinical and forensic samples to prevent cross contamination of samples. Implement liquid robotic handling solutions for assay setup to increase robustness and reduce setup errors. Coordinated shipping of samples including getting appropriate CDC and USDA permits. Responsible for finding supplier for specialized raw materials necessary to make assays and get sole source agreement. Managed a team of 3 scientists.
