Daily Duties at Atho Gen:
After Abbott purchased Ibis Biosciences in 2009, worked with Senior Director of Marketing to establish AthoGen as a clinical research laboratory that would provide access to the Ibis microbial diagnostics technology to internal and external customers. Developed strategy to reach clinical researchers in academic institution, medical research centers, research hospitals, and biopharmaceutical companies using a website designed to show how the Ibis technology could answer their questions, an interactive conference booth and direct mail campaign to molecular scientists. I worked with customers to determine the scope of the research project, to provide a quote for the services, to negotiate service contracts, as well as allocate resources for multiple projects, select the appropriate assays to use for each project, perform expert data analysis and write project reports that were suitable for submission to the FDA. I ensured that the laboratory work was carried out according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). In addition, the instrumentation was validated for methods, maintained and calibrated. I developed employee training programs as well as competency and proficiency testing programs. I managed a team of seven (7) that conducted clinical research projects, clinical trials, scientific affairs studies and government projects. I was also responsible for meeting budget and revenue goals of $2 million per year.
