Daily Duties at Delta County School District:

Responsible for all aspects of counseling per ASCA guidelines and best practices recommendations. Responsible for developing procedure, protocol and counseling program at school that has never had a licensed school counselor or program in the past, including, but not limited to, the following: - Early identification and intervention for at-risk students using data from failing grades, attendance, and discipline reports; beginning with the Student Study Team meeting. - Coordination of Student Study Team meetings (includes all teachers, administrator, counselor, student and parents) with RTI approach for problem solving and follow-up meetings/contact. SST typical results include interventions, possible accommodations, and referrals to outside agencies and/or special education testing. - Coordination and development of all 504 Accommodations, including annual reviews and disseminating accommodations to teachers each semester. - Small group meetings / instruction for grade improvement and organization. - Ongoing one-on-one social/emotional counseling with focus on coping skills and resiliency. - Career and College information / activities presented to all 260 students through the use of various methods including Naviance and College in Colorado during two-week blocks through ICAP period. - Enrollment, monitoring and grading of small student groups in online credit-recovery and credit acceleration through the Edgenuity program. - Transcript evaluation and graduation progress monitoring each semester. - Scheduling, course advising and registration for all students. - ICAP tracking / monitoring of long term plans and career goals. - Parent outreach through personal phone calls, emails and announcements in principal’s weekly newsletter advertising events such as college fairs, college tours and FAFSA nights hosted by counselor. - Collaboration with Gifted and Talented Advisor and other teachers as needed for benefit of student.
