Daily Duties at Engelhard:

As a partner with the business, had responsibility for Safety, Environmental Compliance, Cost Control, Product Quality, Process Quality, Productivity and Efficiency for Pigment Manufacturing on 17 production lines. Reports: 12 Line Supervisors, 94 Operators and 32 Lab Technicians. Overall site had 300 employees with 220 being Union Production, Lab and Maintenance. Site annual EBIT was $84.0M • Decreased Manufacturing costs by $2M through a job assessment process and new Operations Staff design. • Improved site operating efficiencies by: 1. Identifying key equipment capacities and capabilities, 2. Improvement of the site product scheduling process and 3. Minimizing the impact Raw Material inventory had on Finished Goods inventory. • Improved employee morale, by involving the Manufacturing Staff in key decisions which impacted their “quality of work life”, resulting in a more empowered Supervisory Team. • Engaged the Manufacturing Supervisory staff in identifying opportunities for improvement and cost containment, which resulted in a quarterly savings of $250K.
