Daily Duties at Basf:

Primary responsibility for site quality system, quality assurance, quality control and new product introduction in the manufacture of organic diazo pigments and universal dispersions. Reports: 2 Supervisors, 2 Chemists, 1 Engineer and 14 Lab Technicians. Overall site had 125 employees with 75 being Union Production and Maintenance. Site annual EBIT was $2.6M. • Championed the site initiative to revise all site procedures to accurately reflect current business practices. • Implemented a new control of non-conforming material process which led to the reduction of dysfunctional inventory by greater than $3M. • Established a new process for selecting, qualifying and validating new and existing raw material suppliers. Procedure revision was part of a successful recertification audit. • Led the process by which 12 new products were introduced to the site from Research and Development and over 70 existing products were transferred into the site. All products were made available for commercial sales. • Reinvigorated the sites corrective and preventive action systems. Established a loss prevention team to investigate all quality incidents and reduce their occurrence in the future. Scrap rates were reduced from $150K to less than $100K.
